Who's Your Daddy?

John 17:25-26 – “O righteous Father, indeed the world has not known You; but I have known You, and these have known that You have sent me. And I made known to them Your name, and will make it known, so that the love with which You have loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

In the movie Taken, Liam Neeson plays a character named Bryan, the father of a young adult girl abducted in Paris by a human trafficking ring.  The outlook is not good as the daughter is bound for slavery and her father discovers her plight while still back in the U.S.  Somehow “Bryan” manages to make contact with the abductors through his daughter’s phone and delivers this famous message…

“If you let my daughter go now, that will be the end of it.  I will not look for you, I will not pursue you.  But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you”.

This line in the move resonates with me because it speaks to the Grizzly Bear heart deep inside of every father.  “You touch my kids and I will come for you”.  This is what daddy’s do.  We protect our children from wicked people.  If anything happens to our children, we don’t stop until they are safe in our arms.

That’s exactly what our heavenly Father did!  He loved us more than He loved His very own self by sending His only Son to go into the enemy’s camp and take us back to Himself.  Jesus said, “when you see Me, You’ve seen the Father”.  Jesus came to show us who our daddy really was, our dear Heavenly Father.  A Father who wouldn’t let us be taken into slavery, into darkness, into depths of despair.  He’s so in love with us, that He sent His Son as the express image of His love for us, to redeem us, to purchase us with His blood.  John 1:18 says, “No one has seen God at any time; the Only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him”.

He’s our Daddy!  He’s the One on the telephone to every demon, every spirit of fear, sickness, abuse, depression, declaring their defeat.  He stripped him of his power to harm us.  He’s set us free, He’s coming after us, just like the character in the movie relentlessly went after his abducted daughter in Paris, France.  Nothing will stop Him.  Nothing is going to get in His way of getting His kids, He’s on a mission, and He’s the Father from whom all fatherhood takes its name.

How dare the enemy touch God’s property, His beloved children, His sons and daughters!  He’s saying, “That’s my beloved son!” and “That’s my precious little girl”.  This isn’t a Bible study as much as it is a “Daddy study”.  When the God in you meets your abductor, He’s going to say, “Remember me?  We spoke on the phone…”  Know how much God loves you!  Nothing can ever stop Him from blessing you!  That’s who your Daddy is!
